there is an air of mystery surrounding the warrior of light, with his confident gait, yet stoic disposition; he is quiet and reserved, and utterly disinterested in all the fanfare that comes with playing hero. still, he is kind, his voice gentle and heart bound dutifully to all that he deems fair and just — it's easy to see how he got roped into this mess.

while he much prefers his own company, jochi is charming in his own right, knowing what to say and when; he is clever and sharp, though paired with his stoicism, it is often easy to misinterpret his sarcasm as disinterest. aside from his wit, much of his charisma can be culled from his sweeping gestures; lips brushing 'cross the knuckles of an acquaintance, or offering the clothes off his back in the brisk cold... he is a textbook gentleman: earnest, chivalrous and kind.

 HISTORY the kiyat tribe is of the many that endeavor to settle in coerthas during the sixth astral era, but countless are lost in the massacre of those attempting to migrate, jochi's father among them. jochi and his pregnant mother manage to escape, though they both suffer injuries which are unable to be completely healed.after the tragedy, jochi's mother, sarnai, spurns the name of the dusk mother. she loses sight of her faith and removes the aspect of religion from her family's lives; jochi develops an overall disinterest in spirituality as a result.after the birth of jochi's brother, erden, the family begins a humble, nomadic life traveling south of coerthas, eventually landing themselves on the docks of limsa lominsa. AS AN ADVENTURER jochi finds himself at the doors of the adventurer's guild early, soon walking the path of the marauder. though he does not personally align with their philosophies, he learns much in the ranks of the mercenary guild — about how best to place himself between the enemy and his allies, no matter the cost to himself. his self-sacrificing nature burgeons into an impulsion.

it is during his journey in ishgard that he takes up the mantle of dark knight, a discipline which resonates much closer with his convictions; to breathe life into the dead, to give voice to the voiceless... he learns the weight of forgiveness and self-worth, that though the guilt feels never ending, ones sins are not the measure of oneself. AS THE WARRIOR OF LIGHT he is, put plainly, deeply traumatized by both the circumstances of watching his father die, and those of being the warrior of light. as a result, he becomes exceptionally reckless in his later years. his vow to protect the ones he loves often comes at the expense of himself and his well-being, driven by grief and the fear of loss.jochi is a brutal warrior, though he maintains his composure well in the face of adversity, sooner cold than affected. he is motivated by his desire for a better world, though he also feels a sense of duty, having been exalted as hydaelyn's chosen.worth noting is that in spite of everything, of all his suffering and pain and all the war within him, jochi has chosen to remain kind.
